Your role:
- Develop our upload, transcoding, packaging, and playback media delivery solutions.
- Design, maintain, and build services and video processing workflows.
- Do research and development to optimize content, workflow, new media formats, codecs, and more.
- Impact the future of Flip’s video services.
- Collaborate with your team on a technical roadmap.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of commercial experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of at least one modern video format (fMP4, MP4, MPEGTS, ISOBMFF, WebM)
- Experience with HTTP media delivery standards/protocols, such as HLS or similar (MPEG-DASH, smooth streaming).
- Solid technical video-related knowledge including experience in some of these areas: encoding, packaging, video formats, video codecs, audio codecs.
- Experience with TypeScript or willingness to learn it.
- Confidence in working with video, streaming, and media.
- Problem-solving skills and a “can do” attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to creating clean code, delivering exceptional products, and constantly improving your skills.
- Proficient in English (minimum B2 level).
Awesome to have:
- Familiarity with FFMPEG, libav, shaka-packager, or other video-related tools & utilities.
- Experience with Javascript/TypeScript.
- Experience with modern video encoding standards (preferably H.264, AV1 or VP9).
- Experience in C/C++/Rust or other low-level programming languages.
- Experience with video quality assessment tools.
- Experience with video encoding optimizations.
- Strong experience with data analysis & data-driven decision-making.
- Experience with other media formats (image, audio, subtitles).
- Experience with CDN configuration and edge computing.
